I found it good in that it's promoting DIY guitars, but bad in that it promotes too simplistic a view of putting them together.

There are a few incorrect statements which could mislead some less technically minded readers e.g. "Plus there's no need for drilling or soldering"; as some soldering is always required (even if it's only two connections) and you normally have to drill the locating holes for pickguards and tuners. The ad for the Saga LP clearly shows unconnected pickups (and a wiring harness), even though it states 'no-soldering required'. Well, soldering is required as you won't get any sound without it!

"Some of the pre-constructed kits can be put together in just over an hour"; yes, but only if you want a bare wood guitar with rough surfaces.

"Shop around for the brand name"; The only 'brand name' that I'd ever heard of in the DIY side of guitars before buying a PBG kit was Warmoth, which is in a totally different league to almost all of the DIY kits out there, and they are a parts supplier rather than a kit supplier.

I get the feeling that the article's author has never made a DIY guitar, otherwise, the claims made would be a lot more realistic. More truth would really help people with choosing a first kit.
