Yeah, doesn't seem to make sense but I saw one at a jam session a few months ago and they are like a 6 string bass in that the fret board is wider and you have the option for 2 strings thicker and lower in tone than the low E where some of the tones do crossover to the higher Bass register - for example the 8th string could be tuned to G and therefore same pitch as G on a Bass however being a shorter scale the string will be thicker than a typical 0.45 or 0.50 long scale 34" Bass string. It was a Schecter and sounded quite dark, probably what a baritone may sound like, and not my cuppa tea but would suit anyone into death metal type stuff.Originally Posted by ILRGuitars
