Hmmm, there's an idea, but do you think DB would do an LP Style neck for only $55??!! That would be only an hours worth of labour with some tradies.
I did have a look on Ebay for necks a while ago, but like the PBG ones, they were already drilled. I could plug them and start again, but what I have in mind it would be easier with a solid head stock.

Yeah, I would love to do that, but I'm a bit skeptical about my skills going the full scratch build at this stage. I want to prove the theory first, but thanks for the confidence boost!

Awesome! Thanks for that, hopefully that will be workable with mine as well.

all good Zandy it takes time to plan a scratchy and one as bizaar as this one. A custom neck from DB would be over $200/250 !

I think a pre-drilled neck is the go, plug the holes and re-drill. Then you can cover the plugs with a nice veneer !

Otherwise July is way too far away ! Without the neck it will put the build to a fast halt
    Current Builds and status

    Completed builds

Mate if I can do something vaguely neck shaped c/w truss rod, using only hand saws, Hand Planes and a 400w router I'm pretty sure you can too. If you need inspiration check out Robin's latest thread. He uses exclusively hand tools and its all very well documented.

Yeah, I thought that would be the case with DB. Having said that, I'm sure it would be a beautiful neck to use!
I could plug the holes, and the veneer doesn't need to be flash, as it would be painted, but I need some added thickness in the head stock for what I have planned(Shhh!! Secret stuff!!!)

the headstock would need to be longer for a 12 string Frankie, not thicker. My guess is Zandy will be using the 3 a side tuners with side holes (not top/bottom) like on my baritone lap steel

It was the 12 string ferrules in black that sparked the question. But I am sure Zandit will reveal all when he is ready

Hmmm, good guesses, and Wokka is the closest, but not quite!!

Just came across this on Ebay...
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Elect...4AAOSwyjBW7QvH

Ideally it would have black binding, but otherwise this would be perfect.
