Don't think it merits a mention in GOTM. It has one or two wee blemishes (like Miss World with a plook on her bum).
I have quite enjoyed the forum. Can you only join in if you are doing a PitBull? The prices are great but add in the post and customs and it's 100GBP extra. I want to do an SG next, can get one from Amazon for 119GBP. Oh, I just looked up at Wazkelly's signature. Two non PBG's. Anyway guys (no guyesses?) it's been fun. I'll keep an eye out for the various projects going on and you may see me attempt the SG. Rock on!!

Hm... Off-topic but your remark about the customs makes me wonder what I have to pay for my LP-1MQ that is shipped to me right now.

Are you in the UK? It isn't customs as such but HMRC hold the item pending customs(VAT). Parcel force pay the duty and charge you £13 for the privilege. That came to £49. Don't know about other places. It's all to do with trade agreements.

No, I'm in The Netherlands and I just checked the website for taxes and as far as I can see I have to pay 2,5% of the value of the parcel (who is going to decide this value?) and 21% VAT...

But I'm postnapping your topic Sorry!!

You will probably get about the same as I did. It delays your delivery so track it and soon as Netherlands post has it phone and pay over the phone. Saves about 5 days.

Although they don't cost that much extra, I have bought one kit without pickups (though I'm actually replacing all the hardware) and one kit without hardware and pickups, both to reduce the cost of importing and because I wanted to fit better hardware anyway. The Post Office processing charge is a large percentage of the extra cost, but there's no way around it. PBG do a far wider range of kits and are far more open to custom orders than other kit suppliers, so best to look for kits in their range that you can't get elsewhere that you're interested in.

I agree Simon they do have a good range. I was just over 100 quid for postage and customs. My white Tele cost less than that.

There is a non PBG build thread forum here as well http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...splay.php?f=65
There are a number of scratchbuilds and non PBG builds documented there, some of them are epic.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

S.O.S. My "Ric" plays beautifully. Low action, great intonation. Got a problem with G string. It sounds like a soprano in a Male voice choir. It's a plain 16 thou string. I'm searching for a wire wound G the same gauge with no joy. The closest I can get is 18. I read that Picato did a 16 but it's been discontinued. 18 would do at a push but I would love something more slender. I do a lot of bending.
The guitar has re-awakened something in me. I got that I couldn't be bothered with trying new stuff, this is a whole new world. Mrs Hat is demented with me. I've been relegated to wearing cans so she can hear the TV. If anyone knows a supplier of 16 wound strings I'd be very grateful for a heads up.
Been browsing the other builds on here and boy do I have a lot to learn. But you stop learning you ain't living.
