Hey Wokka, what if you got a vinyl representation of the fret positions an marker dots computer cut?
You get them to cut it complete with a border down the sides, about 10mm wide of each side of the neck, to hold all of the frets in the right spot. They cut it, lay a wide backing sheet over the top and then you apply in one hit, and trim the "border" off at the neck sides.
You can then just lay clear over the top of it.

Hey Frankie cheers for the suggestion, I might look into that path, but I really want real MOP and pau shell fret dot markers.
I had a quick look on ebay for lap steel fretboards and most are around 22-25 inch scale.
I'd need a custom scale of about 27 inches.
I will think about it anyway cheers Frankie

Actually MOP would look sick laid across the laminates. Bit fiddly getting it fine enough (And straight enough) to inlay as a fret representation though. I watch on with great interest (and popcorn).

cheers Franky, I definitely want fret lines for much better note accuracy. Might even look at burning the fret lines with a soldering iron.
