Hi,
First build with Pitbull and semi acoustic with set neck. Did a couple of teles from bits a pieces about 10 years ago. One of the teles is my go to guitar. Like it much better than more expensive guitars I have bought.

Hi Pete can you please take a photo of a mock build is it a bigsby tremelo? There just needs to be an earth wire make some sort of contract with the tremelo system
Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck
Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
If it's the standard kit trapeze tailpiece, then you'll need to drill a hole at the rear of the guitar, all the way through the rear block and just big enough to get the wire through, so that one the end of the ground wire is caught under the mounting piece for the trapeze tailpiece whilst the other end can be wired to ground somewhere. There will be a reasonable-sized block of wood at the rear of the guitar, as it has to take the tailpiece mounting screws plus a longer screw for the strap button. Probably best to locate (if not drill) the pilot holes for these fixing screws first, then drill the ground wire hole so there are no conflicts.
You should be able to see the end block inside the body before you glue the neck on using a torch and a small inspection mirror. This should give you an idea of its size and whether you may best drill out at an angle and come out through the side of the block, or whether you've got a drill bit long enough to drill all the way straight through.
You'll need to then poke a long length of the wire through from the outside to the inside and then pull the inside end through the lower F-hole with a long pair of tweezers.
This earth wire should be one of the last things to do prior to installing the controls and wiring harness into the body. I'd tie a knot in the tailpiece end of the wire so that you don't accidentally pull it through, (or else tape it in place) and then tape the f-hole end to the top once it's through prior to soldering it to a ground connection.
You could even drill a larger countersink hole a few mm deep under the tailpiece in the end of the small ground wire hole, big enough so that you can fit the complete knot into so there's no danger of the wire pulling through by mistake and deep enough that the end of the tailpiece can sit flat against the body. Then strip the end of that wire so there's 15-20mm of bare wire that can then sit between the body and the end of the tailpiece when it's screwed on.

Hi,
Many thanks for this. You have explained it really well and I now know exactly what to do. I just need to find the time to do it!!!
Kind regards,
Pete
Hi,
Many thanks for the reply.
It is trapeze tail piece with no Bigsby. Simon has explained it really well for me so I will give it a go. I appreciate you getting back to me.
Kind regards,
Pete
