@Tony, @Wokka, @Stan - Thanks guys. @Stan - no elves dude, if only. seems like I have no time at all to build these days! @Nick - Yeah I have seriously considered a red pearloid guard as well. Never considered gold - hmmm.
cheers,
Gav.

Looks really nice Gavin. Very classy looking finish!
Hi Gav, agree with Woks in that there was plenty of Basswood grain after all. I would go chrome or mirror scratch if you could find one seeing that all other hardware is also chrome.
hi guys,
It's been a while since I updated this thread, and a lot has happened in the meantime. For starters, everything was going well on the body until, in my haste, I picked up a can of primer instead of clear acrylic off the bench. The resulting white slash across the body bid a quick farewell to the trans black finish and hello to a solid colour - seafoam (one of my faves).
I've basically finished the clear coats and she's been hanging for a few months in the man cave curing. This is probably the first build of mine to receive a full curing period! While it cures (and cures and cures) I've shaped the headstock using a standard Fender template and got some Colortone Vintage Amber dye on the neck. Tru-Oil is the name of the game now, and I am currently 4 coats in. Lots more coats, with wet sanding in between, to follow.
She's slowly coming along..
cheers,
Gav.

How full was the swear jar when you sprayed white primer on the black stain ?
next time have a look at the cap colour of the can mate and read the label !
I just noticed your build numbers are hexidecimal ? spot the computer geek !

I would raid it when no one is looking and grab a dozen cold Gwens mate since you have probably filled most of it![]()

Love, love, love that colour. Every cloud has a silver (or sea-foam green) lining, hey?

You're on a roll Gav, great work!
