JetSlide- Guitar slide that can be easily flipped in/out of use without removing.

While perusing around the web searching stuff out, as you do, I came across this little beauty.

It's called the JetSlide, it's a solid Brass or Stainless steel rod that is attached to a ring that fits around your finger on one side, on the other side is a little flip leaver.
You wear it like a ring, and just use your pinky to flip the slide in/out of use....see video below.

I thought OOH, I gotta get me one of them, so I did a search on where to get one.
To cut a long story short, although sold at some outlets [at a premium ], I found the guy who makes them has a Ebay store
    http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/jetslide_...1&_ipg=&_from=

He has two additional items for sale, one is a copper sleeve that fits over either slide to add weight and a different tone to either the Brass or S/Steel slide bar, and Glass sleeves [you get 2 in a order], that again fit over the originals to give a different tone, these can be either glued in place, or use double sided tape as a temporary measure.

I went and ordered the whole lot at once, until I noticed that each individual item was attracting it's own postage cost...Oh no you don't [it would have been close to Aus $100 total after exchange rates ]
I emailed him and said what I wanted, he emailed back saying OK, he would adjust postage to suit.
    And he did.

I received my two JetSlides with copper & Glass sleeves a few days ago..... I found I needed to bend the pinky finger lift for better fit, but all in all , recommended.

If interested, remember to tell him your ring finger measurement, he has a list at the bottom of the ordering page so you can measure in mm's to get correct size.

I couldn't get to grips with mine.

It's a great concept but I need to tweak it at the design level. (That means... rebuild it.). I've got really knobby joints on my finger, so the 'ring' needs to be opened up to slip over the joint. This means it flops about too much for accurate playing.

So, first re-design point is to make the 'ring' 2 or 3 times wider.

Secondly, the angle of the bent bit, that goes between the fingers to stabilise it, doesn't fit my weird hand so... re-design.

Lastly, the 'tab' that you put your finger on to apply downward pressure is (again, due to my weird hands) too long and too high.

For the moment, I've gone back to my trusty steel slide on my pinky. But I WILL revisit the Jetslide as soon as I get a round tuit.

Nice idea, and kudos for getting it on the market! That's 'sort-of' how I use the tone bar on a lap steel, only I hold it at the index finger...

... I think I'll stick to a glass tube over my little finger simply because that's how I've done it for years!!

Try splitting the Ring, to give some lee way- adjustment.
10sec with a Dremel cutting disc would do the trick.

It seems one of those tools that you really need to WANT to use in you LIVE performance, hence practice needed.
Strongly depends on the guitar situation you are in....separate open tuned guitars available.... guess that's why we are here building such instruments

I was thinking so hard about who I saw using these. I was destroying my brain thinking of who it was. Thank you, now I can go back to destroying my brain with beer.
