well, big sorry to everyone, been away from the site for ages, down with that 100 day flu, only up and running the last few days.
Gathered up enough courage to glu down the claro walnut veneer, and tonight, started shaping it
Decided to go with a routed trim all round different widths.
Have done the rough cutting out, with my dremmel, and sandpaper, still a lot of sanding and shaping to do.
I dont have a router so am being brave and trying it by hand, fingers crossed.

Also filled the bookmatch join with superglue and added some walnut dust to fill any gaps in the join

Did the SG-2 have the bevel all the way around or did you do that? The SG-1F doesn't have it all the way around and so isn't as symmetrical as what you've got.

I was never sure about the lack of symmetry on the SG-1F with a big contrast between the flame and basswood but I'm starting to get used to it. Yours looks like it should come up great.

Thanks Dan, because i didnt like the standard SG beveled edge i decided to make my own, i got the idea from a firm called http://www.kieselguitars.com/

because im using 2 contrasting colors i wanted the basswood of the body to contrast with the walnut veneer, im staining the body and neck GOLD TEAK, and wanted some of the colour to contrast on the front of the guitar not just the sides and back..

Nice work Nitro! That will look sweet when it comes to cleaning it and buffing to a bright shine!

Yea Zandit, but got hours of sanding to go but it will be worth it

This pic shows that the bevel is different widths, wider on the top and bottom.
