Hey Nitro I agree with Dedman go option 2 and cut a cool pickguard shape then you cover the oversized pup cavities and the shape looks radical. Pickguard material will look great

I agree with Andy40, Dedman, and Wokkaboy, so that's now 3-nil with the pickguard.

So serious question time plz, need some desperate help. Ive been doing heaps of research on glueing veneers but cant find any info on one big area.

I have the walnut veneer all ready to go, i have the right glue, and am going to use the space saver vacuum bag method advised by you guys, thats ok.
The big BUT is....thats ok for a flat top quitar but what about a curved top like the sg has? When i use the vacuum method, as it compresses to meet the curves, esp up by the neck, will it split? Is it better to apply glue to the curves, glue down the veneer and cut or sand it back to above the curve, or leave it covering the curves? Or do i leave applying glue to the curved edges and trim it back after?
Hope you guys can understand this, as i need help. Thanks in advance for any who take pity on me, hope im not a nuisance. Appreciate all the help guys.

How thick is the veneer? Are we talking super thin like the PBG Quilted veneers or something much thicker?

Well Zandit its definately not as thin as the pbg veneers are but thin enough to bend, maybe between .8 and 1 ml. It could take quite a bit of sanding if need be and is easy to cut with scissors. Theres pics on page 11 of this thread if you wanna take a look.
