Yes, I think we are becoming a nation full of obsessed coffee snobs.

Totally agree about some of the over the top places taking longer to make a coffee than in does to consume it. Just means you have to get more of your fix via aroma therapy whilst you wait.

Happy for you to enlighten us who may not have seen that documentary.

I am aware of some expensive coffee beans that have been retrieved from animal excrement and not keen to sample any of that as I presume it will just taste like s#$t!

Ah the infamous Kopi Luwak coffee.... the coffee cherry is eaten by a Civet and then umm......deposited.
The workers collect these recycled beans and off they go to cleaning. One hopes.

Here are some of the brands of ground coffee I have tried recently:

On the left is Robert Timms Italian Espresso Style, the middle one is Robert Timms Royal Special, and the one on the right is Lavazza Crema E Gusto, all are pretty good tasting, much better than the instant coffee I usually buy, I'm currently making myself a cup of the Robert Timms Royal Special coffee.

There's also another Lavazza brand ground coffe packet I sometimes buy, it comes in a Gold coloured packet and is called Lavazza Oro, not bad tasting at all, but definitely gives you a good kick and wakes you up.

I also sometimes buy packets of Chai, Chai is basically an Indian spicy tea, I think one of the spices in it is cinnamon, definitely very tasty to drink on a cold day, must buy some more of it.

    I know, I'm a bit of a cosmopolitan, aren't I?....hahahaha...

I know they have oppressive drug laws in that country but I wonder what the dude was on when he decided you could make coffee out of the chunky bits in civet sh1t

Instant coffee tastes like dirt. Doesn't taste anything like coffee. You won't find a jar of it in our house. It's a pity, because some of the jars are handy.

If I go into a cafe and the barista looks too young for my liking, I try somewhere else.

I don't like the 'Nespresso' machines for ecological reasons. Those used pods don't all end up in landfill and it can't be good for the environment.

We use Lavazza Oro, or Rosso, and a simple coffee plunger. Half a cup of milk in the microwave and voila, almost cafe grade coffee. We buy the small packs and keep it sealed in the freezer to keep it fresh.

Last week, the missus was given a bag of Columbian coffee beans from one of her Columbian students (I wonder what else she can provide... ;-). So we grind just enough for a plunger in the spice grinder and it makes a niiiiiice cuppa coffee.

One of the things to buy on my shopping list is a new Dripolator Coffee machine, I had one a couple of years ago but my younger brother nicked the glass jug from it so he could use it as a Coca Cola glass, I also need to buy a new microwave oven cause my current one doesn't seem to be cooking the food I put in it even though it says it is cooking on the front panel, I'm suspecting that the Magnetron in it has carked-it, so the Microwave is getting replaced with a new one.

I like Robert Timms coffee bags. I lived in Melbourne for long enough that I can't stand the cheap instant I grew up with anymore. Don't like the pod machines for the reasons Muzza pointed out above. Baristas can be hit and miss, if you find a good one, keep going back.I find coffee bags a good compromise for home. 2 sugars, cream and vanilla essence if your being good, something stronger if its a bad day.
