Good progress there Doc, the grain peep through does give it a little something eh?

Cheers and yep, I agree, it's as if the guitar body has aged to a vintage-ish kind of look without actually ageing for about 40 or 50 years, I think it definitely gives it a bit of character, I seem to remember seeing at least one Gold Strat that had aged so it looks like the grain is peeping-through the paint, seen some vintage Sunburst Strats like that too, so it's probably not that uncommon.

Update:
Gave the body a second coat of the Super Gold Spraypaint a few minutes ago, there were a couple of areas where I had to do a touch-up spray, also got a minor paint-run on the back of the body near the trem-spring rout, so the plan is to simply let the paint dry thoroughly and see if I can sand the paint-run back till it's smooth with some 800-grit sandpaper, then give it a touch-up spray and let it dry thoroughly, the Gold paint is starting to run out, I had underestimated how much was actually left in the can yesterday after I had sprayed the first coat, the body looks virtually the same as it did after I sprayed the first coat so there's not really much point in taking a pic of it.
I think once the can of Super Gold spraypaint has ran out I'm going to start clear-coating the body once it is fully dried, I might give it a full week, or, fortnight to dry first though before I do the clear-coating.
Hey Doc, love the Dr Evil avatar really suits you ! Did DB give that to you ?
sounds like a plan. I was just about using a full can of the supergold per coat of my tele body but that included the headstock. What will your headstock be stained or natural ?
Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck
Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
My Gold Strat's headstock is going to be natural, but with a clear-coat (only the front part of it though), cause I'm going to see if I can do a headstock Decal for it, I'm planning on visiting my local Officeworks shop tomorrow to see if they stock the decal paper/film I need to print out a Decal using my Canon MG2560 Inkjet printer, I've pretty much worked out the design of my Headstock Decal, so all I need to do is use a graphics app to get it all sorted and then print it out, well that's the plan anyway, I'm going to order the new Gold Sperzel Tuners from Realtone Music next fortnight, and then the new Gold Supervee Bladerunner bridge the following fortnight, by then the body should be dry and ready to be assembled into a working and playable guitar.
It probably was DB who changed my Avatar, I like it so I'm going to run with it.
Do you reckon eight-weeks is enough time for the body to fully dry?, assuming I don't make any muck-ups that force me to start again from scratch.
