After much sanding (following the forum mantra) I got to a point where colour was required. This is where I made my next mistake.

I figured that with all the intricate curves it would be too hard to tape up the binding and I would just scrape it back later on. As you will see in later posts, the very fact that there are intricate curves actually means it's better to tape the binding. What I found that on some of the tighter curves, there were micro cracks in the binding which meant the stain sunk in and made it almost impossible to scrape out. Anyway, I will show you photos of what I mean in later posts.

For now here are a few photos showing first coat of Karajini Red.

Moved on to the headstock next and was looking to possible routed indent part similar to the edge on a Starcaster headstock but taking up a larger portion. I did some testing on scrap wood but couldn't get the finish clean enough for my liking so decided to use two different stains.

I also had a friend cut some vinyl lettering for my logo.

We are getting closer to the finish now so I started on the electronics and did another almost finished mockup.

    Bring on the clear coats!

Incidently, the cost is a little higher than the current PBG offerings (I paid $358 delivered for body and neck only). I have spoken to Adam about it and he thinks he can get it somewhat cheaper if there's enough interest from the forumites.

    Its a niiiiiiice!

That Karajini red has come up beautifully, VERY interested if PBG do a similar option (Price Dependent) (Also Spousal Tolerance Dependent).

    Hey pedro,

You got a great colour out of that Karajini Red. I'm assuming that you have put down the intensifiers?

I can see a bit of lumpiness which i would recommend gently sanding down a bit with 1500 (or 2000) grit wet once it cured but before you lay down the clear coats.

Are you using DT finish coats or a different finish?

Cool Andy, thanks for the advice. I'll definitely do that.

I did about 3 coats of intensifier to get the colour I liked. I will be using the DT final coat to finish.
