Here it is after primer and 5 coats of color. I'm not real thrilled with the grain showing through. I used a filler primer, and sanded it to glass before the color. I'm hoping it's the wet paint and the humid weather. Anyone know if this will disappear with clear coat and wet sanding?

I do love the color though!!!

I went back and filled the grain with joint compound and sanded it down smooth. Then I applied another layer of paint. The paint is like glass now. Great cheap trick to fill the grain if you can't find the other things people use (Like I couldn't).

I can't wait to peel the mask off to see that white binding.

Here she is with the masking off, and that pretty white binding showing. Ready for clear soon.

That looks great! Glad you found a way to hide the grain.

Is the guitar you're emulating coloured the same on the neck and headstock? Because that'd look amazing when assembled.

The guitar we are paying tribute to has a neck the same color, except for the front face of the headstock, which will be gloss black. Everything else will be chrome, with the stock kit chrome Humbuckers with black surrounds.

The only thing we are not using from the stock kit is the truss rod cover, I was able to find one engraved with the Foo Fighter's "FF" logo.

Great win on that grain fill MrMayhem, always good to see problems overcome. I think the Fooey's TRC will be a great accent piece and something MayhemJr will get a kick out of. Great work so far, can't wait to see it all together!
