Some other builds... (amp re-housing/lap steel)

Just thought I'd put up a couple of other builds I've done over the past few years. Might give you guys some ideas to play around with!

First up is a re-housing of an old Squier Champ 15R amp. I just felt like doing something a bit different so made a new speaker cab and head housing from some nice pine, finished with beeswax.

Next up is another amp rehousing. I took an old Randall bass head and wanted to create a Trainwreck style head out of it. Again, pine with beeswax finish.

As a cab for this one I made a box for a 12" speaker with the inspiration being one of those Fender anniversary Pro Junior amps.

Finally, a lap steel that I wanted to make with a surf feel - from memory it's maple, but I can't for the life of me remember what the darker wood was. I was quite proud of the way I approached the mounting of the tuners. They are a bit fiddly to get at but it works well! It was also tough making the pickup cover to fit nicely but I got there in the end.

great work Chuck! I've thought about rehousing my Vox VTX20 to a larger cab so it can run a larger speaker. Maybe I should convert it into a head to use with my other cab.

Yep, that Fender looks classic, almost looks like it's covered in blonde tolex.

Hey Deddy, you could probably just open up the back of the VTX20 and drop the wires from the 8" speaker and run them into a phono socket instead as I don't think there will be enough ohms to run together. Saves having to rebuild anything.

It's a bit of a challenge but thankfully it holds its tuning reasonably well!
