Yep, the current pickup wiring of the guitar is a bit messy so it's leading me on a wild blazed trail to god knows where...lol
It is seriously messing with my head, having a couple of wires that have obviously broken off, but don't seem to be going anywhere doesn't seem to be helping things much, I guess all I can do is keep re-drawing the circuit till something twigs, I have worked out that the pot closest to the bridge has to be the volume control.

Hey Doc, get a multimeter out or have you tried plugging it into an amp ? by the sounds of it you won't get any sound out of it.
Once you determine all the electronic components draw them up and post the sketch and I reckon Weirdy will figure out a wiring diagram and you should be able to either solder the rest of the wires or start from scratch !

Well, as it is, there's no way of getting any sound out of it because none of the pickups are connected in any way to the volume control, and the wires to the output jack broke off the day before yesterday as I was bringing stuff from my mates car into my flat, I'll see if I can post a pic of the diagram I've managed to draw, Weirdy may be able to decipher it, I guess it's worth a try, might also post a pic of the handwritten list of switch functions too.
no worries Doc sounds like the wiring is almost worth starting from scratch

yeah we will see when you get time to take a photo of the underside of the pickguard. With the amount of bad connections and loose wires think that's the best option Doc

I'll just take a quick pic of the pickguard as is, I've just posted a couple of hand-drawn diagrams of the wiring from what I've been able to work out so far, there's also a description of what each switch is supposed to do.
Here we go, this is what the wiring under the scratchplate actually looks like, note that I had to cut some cable ties in order to be able to trace the wiring:
Here's what I've been able to work out, the three position switch closest to the pot, which is closest to the bridge pickup, is supposed to be the switch that switches between Single-Coil/Humbucker + Single Coil/Humbucker only.
The pot right next to that switch has to be the master volume control since one lug is soldered directly to the case, and the pot measures about 250k.
The pot next to the master (middle pot) volume is supposed to be the tone control, it has a push-pull switch on it that is supposed to switch the phase of the middle Humbucker as far as I can tell.
The switch next to the Tone pot is supposed to switch the Humbucker from Series, to Parallel, to Split coil mode.
The pot next to the tone control is supposed to be the Bass-Cut control, it also has a push-pull switch that is supposed to switch the Neck Single Coil/Humbucker in Series.
The big toggle switch next to the Bass Cut control is supposed to switch between the three pickups from what I can work out.
