It's a 1980 and the humbucker (a Bill Lawrence from the look of it) has been modded in. Deadset rad guitar.

Have you had a chance to look at the wiring yet ?
So is the jack side mounted ? what I can gather on that photo of the series the jack was pickguard mounted but there is now a 3 way switch there

Yep, I've just been doing some tracing out of the wiring so I can work out where the broken wires go, I need to remove some heatshrink insulation from one of the switches so I can work out how the middle Pup is wired-up, the jack is mounted on the edge of the body like a Telecaster, here's a pic of the jack so you can see what it looks like:

Cheers mate, hopefully the guitar should sound great once it's all up and running, I'm guessing that the neck is a Fender Scale 25.5 inch type, therefore Fender Strat setup specs should work fine.

Yeah, I agree, it's not very often that you get to work on one of these, you should see some of the other guitars my mate has, the last time I was at his place he got me to install a new mini CTS pot in his Suzuki LP guitar, he was really happy to get it working again.

@ Doc just measure nut to 12th fret should be about 323/324mm if a F type scale

What it looks like is that my mate either got someone to make a new scratchplate for his Blazer, or, he bought it online and had it modded to accept the Humbucking pickup.

On the underside of the Humbucker there's a little sticker with some handwriting on it that reads "L500L", so I'm assuming that the Humbucking pickup is probably a Bill Lawrence L500L.
