    It will certainly be an interesting contrast of veneers from front to back. Are you going to orient the flame grain across the headstock as in the reference image, or match the lengthwise grain orientation of the faceplate?

    Ponch's ES5-V

    So veneer is now glued onto the back of headstock. Started shaping - here's the beginning for some idea of how it will look. I accidentally split the veneer on other side so this now glued and clamped up. Another battle scar lol

    Would thin CA glue help to hide the crack or will it mostly be under the row of tuners?

    Nice grain and it blends well with neck.

    Ok so at close of play ready for a tidy up final sand. I CA glued the crack, sanded back and split is almost invisible. Tuner will also hide some. So after a day of blood, sweat no tears and mild coarse language it turned out ok

    The photo is at a funny angle and not as wonky as it looks!



    And wiped down to see flame

    Current Builds and status
    scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
    Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
    scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
    Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
