    Smile PRS-1Q First Build!

    Hi all,
My name is Jarrod and on thursday afternoon my lovely fiance came home with my first ever Pitbull Guitars delivery, the PRS-1Q kit.
So excited to get started on this build. I also grabbed some Dingotone in Bondi Blue and Black Stump. Mainly due to the fact that i couldn't choose between the two!
I am currently in the process of finishing a complete strip and rebuild of my first guitar i ever owned (Fender Squire Stagemaster) so i have taken to trying out the dingo tone on it before touching the prs just in case i'm not keen on the colour.
So far the age of the wood and the fact that its mostly pine means the colour isn't penetrating as much as i thought it would, but its not looking too bad.
here are a couple of photos of the fender, cant wait to start uploading the PRS build.

Any PRS builders with any info/tips/tricks, Please feel free to let me in on some secrets!

    Thanx Guys

Hi Jarrod welcome to the forum. Cool kit to start on the PRS-1Q. I'm a bit confused why your username is Chas ?
An important tip is the quilted maple veneers are very thin so only sand the veneer lightly with 320 or higher grit. Several forum members have sanded through the cap.
Do a mock build to make sure the kit fits together and all the parts are there.
Rest of the body and the neck go for gold sanding. If you are thinking about a black/blue burst have a practice on some scrap wood.

    Good luck

The Squire is looking pretty good !
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup

Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

    Thanks wokkaboy
I had seen that the vaneer was thin in a few other post i have read on the forum, but using the 320grit i hadnt seen. Thankyou for the advise.
I have been trying the stains on scrap wood, but now i can see how thing the vaneer is, i think i will just go with the blue or black!

Im a little worried about having to drill the holes for the tail and bridge on my first build. Didn't think that through hehe.
I have got the instructions on finding the scale length and bridge position but it it a good idea to drill the holes before staining or wait until the neck is being glued to measure and drill??

Thankyou again for the advise. Very much appreciated!
