WOW, even in components and only partially finished this looks slick Simon. Your Zebra superstrat was amazing, this is a step up again. Incredible work mate.

Same here, I'm trying to enjoy it more just think of the end result which in this case will make it all worthwhile

Thanks! Now it's time to work on the other project to make sure I keep myself occupied while waiting for this one to cure!

@Andrew - music definitely helps keep me sane when sanding!

    Noice werk.

I do have to question why you think nitro is over rated though... been in use since the late 1800's and wont do the funky things that acrylic is prone to doing...

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Isn't nitro super toxic and tends to yellow? I guess it's good if you want the vintage look. There's a reason why the automotive industry switched to acrylic I guess.

To be honest it's more of over priced. $30 for a can? I can't afford that!

The finish debate is an interesting one. I suppose it all comes down to what works for you and what end result you're after. I'm in the hand finish camp as in my circumstance it's the easiest, cost effective and safest method I can use.

I think natural finishes look best with oil finishes. Colored finishes especially figured pieces look best with high gloss.

Hey Simon, I reckon you have to consider what the grain is like. I think too much gloss on a highly figured veneer almost creates too much shine/reflections and detracts the look of the nice grain and figuring. Let the timber be the hero haha
If you asked me a few years ago I would have said high gloss but now I am starting to think like DB
