Did you stain before sanding? I have been practicing with B grade maple veneer plywood. So far I have found lots of ways to mess this up...

I am thinking to do a grain fill, light sand with a 220 sponge, stain (one or two coats no sanding in between, tru-oil with steel wool between the true oil coats.

    Does that sound right?

Have also thought about just putting wood filler in the most obvious places where it needs it and, and skip the grain filler...

With each kit, the welcome letter does encourage and invite folk to join the forum....
People need to read the instructions

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Some folks may be just too eager to be bothered.

Remember when I was browsing and drooling for many months before ordering a kit and once it arrived then registered for the forum. Reckon the home landing page should more strongly encourage forum membership before purchasing as there is so much for newbies to learn through reading all the threads before opening the box and ending up in a world of confusion and grief.
