First dumb question. The Pitbull YouTube videos mention downloadable PDF instructions on the Pitbull website. I only can find PDF wiring diagrams. Am I missing the obvious?

    Juddernaut,
I'm in the same boat as you. I've had a guitar since I was in school 30+ yrs ago but it hasn't been played more that a couple times in all those years. Decided to learn some jazz guitar so I could some day play with my big band (I play trombone usually) and thought these kits and especially the support from the forum looked like a good way to get into it.
The TL-1 is my first kit too and I'm at the finishing stage (using the unmentionable TO ) and it's been a lot of fun so far. Still the electronics to rewire/upgrade. I'm sure you'll do just fine - ask lots of questions - I sure have .
Here's what mine looks like so far after 3 coats of TO:

Yes, I bought a roll of 5cm x 3m copper tape off Amazon. Took forever to arrive (5 weeks) but it eventually showed up.
I know if it buzzes it'll annoy the crap out of me, so I figured for the extra $5 and a bit of time it was worth doing.
I'll wait until I've got the final finish on before doing the shielding as I think it's supposed to overlap the face a bit.
