On closer inspection the PBG kit has the Volume & Tone pots towards rear end of that cavity therefore not leaving any room to come in from the top unless doing so in front of those controls which would look ugly and not work so well. Only other solution is to plug the hole and run another plate hole in between those two rear most pots, meaning output jack hole would move a bit more around back edge towards strap button.
Or you could do a Rickenbacker and have a dummy plate as if it were a stereo perhaps and therefore save having to plug and match timbers if trying for a timber stain rather than solid colour? You would need to leave that output jack in there but cut the lugs off from the inside otherwise you have nothing for outer retainer nut to fasten onto.
Another fix if coming in from the top would be to drill a hole in front of those 4 to relocate a pot and the spare hole on top could be used for the output jack as it looks like that was how it was done on the Gibson. The 4 pots are more offset rather than in a square pattern. They have one of the pots right at the rear edge of the bridge and it looks like there is plenty of room up that end of the control cavity if that is what you choose to do.
