Hi Sansan, sure I'd grain fill the ash body as the grain is fairly coarse, it may need two passes of grain filler. Prime and then colour coats. That photo is a stain as you can see the grain. Solid paint you won't be able to see the grain so you might consider a stain instead if you want the grain to show
