    GR-1SF Rocker-Billy

Woo Hoo, it's here! ... many, many thanks to Adam and the PBG crew for persevering with this kit - it is so worth it!

As Kells80aus said, I've admired the 6120 Gr*tsch's for years (ever since I first heard Brian Setzer's "Stray Cat Strut" back in '81 and then discovering some of the old original rockers like Eddie Cochran, Duane Eddy, etc) ... but the price tag always put them completely out of contention ... until Pit Bull Guitars solved the problem (seriously, where would we be without you? )

So in homage to those greats, this one's going to be a rockabilly's dream (hence the name "Rocker-Billy", duh!) ... but first, initial impressions without the rose-coloured glasses ...

Straight out of the box, she's a real gem! Very even graining over the whole body (some might even say "plain" but its exactly what I was hoping for with this one ... vast amounts of figuring just wouldn't suit it) ... lovely neck-to-body fit, just the right amount of tightness and no slop at all ... and the fretboard has absolutely no defects in the rosewood (no veins and none of the little machining scratch marks that seem to be pretty common).

Defects? ... well after a good thorough inspection (see the pics) I can only pin-point the most minor of problems:
    - two very faint glue marks that should be very easily dealt with (one on the butt and one near the neck cavity),
    - the timber piece in the sole of the neck cavity is completely undressed (as rough as guts actually) but this doesn't seem to have any impact on neck fit and besides it wont be seen and might even provide some extra "tooth" for the glue
    - a little bit of rough joinery on the cutaway side of the neck cavity - but once again, this is covered by the neck so no problems at all
... (am I just getting picky in my old age? ) ...

All in all, condition-wise, this is one of the sweetest PBG kits I've acquired to date ... Adam you and the boys have really aced it with this one!
