I recently modified a strat style HH guitar, after seeing demos of the PRS DGT SE. I replaced the shitty high output pups with Tonerider alnico2's, added a Wilkinson 2 point vibrato bridge, cheap chinese locking tuners, CTS and Switchcraft bits,
and then added a 25K trim pot to a coil of each pup. When you wind back the output of the trim pot , you lose a bit of volume, but don't get the thin sound of cutting the coil completely.
And with separate volume controls and master tone, the middle position of the three-way switch has a huge variety of tones on tap.
It makes for a cluttered bunch of knobs, but it's made a generic POS into a chameleon.

I also heard PRS use a 7k resistor to do a similar job.
Anyone else tried a similar mod?
