My First Hollow Body kit GR-1SF

This time I'm trying a lot of firsts. (differences from my JB bass kit).

1. Hollow Body.
2. Rosewood neck (oiled instead of varnished)
3. Binding scraping (top, bottom & f holes and edges of fingerboard)
4. Trying a solid colour pearl paint on top instead of stain.
5. Stained sides & neck.
6. Solid black headstock face.
7. Glue in neck.

So a lot of new challenges/things to learn (and go wrong).

I will start posting some pics when I get more time but I have a question re the stock Pickups.


The 2 pickups that came with the kit have different height plastic surrounds. 1 is quite thin (sits low to the body) and the other is taller (sits about 6-8 mill higher). They also have different colour wire.

Can someone tell me which is the Neck and which is the Bridge pickup. I have tried both of them in both positions and in all configurations one sits much lower than the other. i.e. further from the strings. I'm not sure if this is normal/by design or not.

Any help appreciated as I am getting close to wanting to wire the loom up.
