Throw this one to the brains trust, I have a Hofner shorty bass and the tuners on it are rubbish. I am looking to get replacements or reuse some spares I have. Is there any reason you can't use tuners from an acoustic guitar? Do bass ones have a 'stronger' action to stay in tune?
I have some Grovner tuners that came off an acoustic, that with some drilling out of post holes look like they will do the job. Thoughts? Pics below
