It's a bit late now, but one tip I've seen on many an acoustic build is using a razor blade to scrap away the glue squeeze out. This can be time consuming, but it does give a clean finish to your work.

I'm in countdown mode myself with building my own acoustic guitar, but I'm going the whole hog attending a 2 week intensive course on the Gold Cost in September.
I've started my thread here if you're interested in taking a look at it - http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...ead.php?t=8635
Oops didn't realise how dangerous it was till you pointed out! Luckily I still have my fingers and no major injuries! I think I was trying to hold it steady but in hindsight I should've clamped it down.

As for the glue squeeze out, I had difficulty cleaning them off properly due to the clamps being in the way. And the glue tends to seep into and stain the spruce so it was impossible to scrape it off.
