Good advice there Woks. My next day off work is Sunday and will attack it then.
Attached a couple more photos to show how orange it really is with a mandarin placed delicately as a colour reference point.
If anyone wants light orange DT I think I may have stumbled on the secret formula.

I like it! Gold hardware would look sweet, and the black hardware's contrast will be stunning!

Thanks Gen Kaos. Might just light sand it to even out the colour and then add a second base coat. Not what I planned but most reactions have been positive and favourable so I will just enhance this unique colour from here. Only got black hardware and it should provide a strong contrast however gold would have been interesting too.

Light Sand then apply 2nd stain base coat.
Decided to stick with the experimental colour and may have to name it Caloundra Sunset after where I live as XXXX Gold is already taken (and not a bad drop either). Here are some photos taken indoors with the bits hanging to dry in my garage plus some outdoor ones to show how it looks in natural midday sunlight.

I think you now need to paint on those pin stripes. Maybe a couple of bits of card laid over it and a very dark orange spray?

    3rd intensifier coat applied today.
So far I had lightly sanded with 0000 steel wool between 1st & 2nd base stain coats and done the same between 1st & 2nd intensifier coats. After 2nd intensifier coat I noticed it looked drier in some parts compared to others and remembered reading on a forum thread not to overwork it as if you miss something on this application you will cover it on the next. I also noticed what appeared to be fine fibre particles sitting in the finish in various places too? Gave the body a light dusting with a clean soft paint brush and applied the 3rd intensifier coat and all was looking good until after finishing neck looked back at the body and saw the same fibre particle stuff happening again? Tried to capture this in a couple of the below photos and hoping someone can give me some idea as to what might be happening and what to do from here?

Hey Waz, looking good. What sort of cloth are you using to rag on the DT ?
I'd let it cure for 2-3 days then steel wool those small lumps on the finish
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds

    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

    correct spelling

Hi Wokka, using the t-shirt cloth that came with DT & kit. Made sure it was clean and no fibres hanging off it before using each time. Good advice and on Sunday will lightly steel wool and give it one more intensifier before the top coats. Is it a good idea to steel wool between each top coat too?
