as long as the distance between the press post and drill centre is at least about 140mm you should be fine. You will find out once it's marked up

    +1 on the headstock

I made the exact same errors on my first few neck pockets. It's very easy to dip the router on that front edge.

I make my neck pocket templates like this, it extends fast the front edge so it's I'm possible for the router to dip and cut a low spot.

Headstock looks great Pabs. My first neck route was even more if a mess. That's the great thing about bolt ons . Going to be a killer axe!

    cheers,
    Gav.

    Thanks Gav.

That's very clever, Dan. I will do that from now on I think. Didn't dip the router though, template plus large router base was very stable. Made an even more rookie mistake and failed to check the cutter depth after I had tightened the base. Must have bumped it when I was doing it up. Started to cut a little and realised it was too low. Doh.

    nice template idea Dan.
Easy trap Pablo, best to check the depth every time you hit the GO button.
I've seen a blank ruined from the bearing not touching the template edge

    Thanks Barge.

Bridge turned up today, so I got to start marking out for string throughs.

Accidentally took the screws home, so drilling tomorrow (after I measure three or four more times). Fingers crossed.

Made a decision on the jack too.

Side mount it is. Which means I had to drill between the two cavities.
