Entwistle AT52 – TELE® STYLE PICKUP SET

I have some hot Entwistle Bass PUP's in my JB and they sound quite good. Also put a set of Dark Star's in my youngest Son's hot rodded Strat copy and not real happy with how they sound. Tend to be a bit bright and shrill compared to the rather warm but dull low output of generic stock kit HB PUP's. I would not recommend them as you only get what you pay for in the end. The Bass ones are OK and were about half the price of TR's a few years ago but these days the price gap has narrowed and would tend to lean towards TR as they are generally a better made product.

With my 2 Tele's I had a devil of a job getting them to sound decent and that was mostly due to setting the action and intonation where the 3 saddle bridge was useless and ended up swapping out for a 6 saddle one instead.

My blue Tele has Wilkinsons and for cheap PUP's they sound really nice, almost as good as the Tone Rider Classics in my Swampy Tele

Yes, seriously thinking about getting another set of ToneRider Hot Classics. Sound great in my Blue Tele, wanted to try something different this time, but spent too many $'s on this one to not be 100% happy.

You know, any perceived gap between the premium priced pickups and the likes of Toneriders is getting ever smaller; I bought 2 sets of second hand Toneriders just recently - one strat set and one tele set - and have installed them in a strat and a modified Westone Spectrum and they are just epic, especially given the price paid!

Now, I had a set of BK Irish Tour pickups in the strat some time ago and just couldn't hook up with them so they went and I banged in a set of generic GFS pickups and the difference was immediate and positive... at least to my ears! YMMV, of course...

I'm convinced about the value of Toneriders and Kent Armstrongs and really, can't see me looking too much further for any future builds... although I need a stacked humbucker or a hotrail for a current project and can't see one in either of those two ranges! Sometimes you can't win...

I had a set of BK Irish Tours and didn't like them much either. Possibly due to the backplate which is supposed to reduce the highs.

I've got a set of Tonerider Hot Classics in my Butterscotch Blonde custom Tele build, and I love them to bits, seriously tempted to put a set of them in my Mexican Tele, the Hot Classics are like hotter-wound standard Tele pickups, bit more midrange in them, good for Blues, Rock, even Surf Rock too believe it or not.

Don't know if Tonerider make Hot Classic Strat pickups though, they might do.
