Hey dedman, yeah when I wiped over it with a damp cloth it's darker so hopefully with the clear it holds that look did yours look 'powdery' in some sections when dry? I wiped off the marks from the latex glove but it seems to be drying wth a powdery residue?

Was it there in the end or was it just whilst there was no seal coat?

Back to the books for me 😭 So far I've done the staining, just working out which gloss clear to use. Currently have 2 testers on the go, dulux duramax and rust-oleum 2x. Am hoping to be able to do weekend work until she's done, can't wait to play her!

Bummer that usual mundane things can get in the way of creative pleasures.

Thanks Gav! I'm really happy with it. Dye's are a new medium for me, I think I've done fairly well cause they were 2 different brands the consistencies were a little different so it was like 2 different approaches to the same thing. But the result is something I'm happy with just gotta apply 2nd coat to the neck and it can get cleared as well

You are better getting templates made up of the actual pup shape, that way you can line it up perfectly with marked outline where the cavity will be. Using a pattern following router bit of course.
Also get into the habit of waiting for the router bit to stop before you remove it from the workpiece. If you angle it slightly while the bit is spinning it can easily cut into wood that you don't want to be damaged/cut.
Also as Fretty says you should wear ear muffs.
Treat routers with the upmost respect.

EDIT also if the router base plate isn't a perfect circle which it probably isn't then when you angle the router slightly away from square that's probably why the cavity walls got torn out
Hey just caught up with this thread, awesome job with the routing Shaz, im just about to use one for the first time myself. Thanks for the tips Wokka and Pablo i will need all the help i can get.
