Okay so we started our experiment proper with the Acrylic casting resin. This is what i am playing with,

the instructions are easy enough to follow, but be warned its a sticky gloopy STINKY experiment. Wear a respirator, don't do it in your workshop even if its got good ventilation like mine. Get out in the carport or on the patio.

I have set up a little mould to replicate the Hole in the FrankenWashie and mixed and poured to the halfway point-ish.

The bottom of the void has plastic sheet across it (HDPE) and this is sealed against the mould with masking tape.
I've left a little room for the resin to get under this to make an allowance for sanding. If this works the way I want it to then I will pull the same trick on the FrankenWashie body and be one step closer to finishing this off. (Famous Last Words I know.)

I'm really interested in seeing how this whole project pans-out, so I'm going to keep following this thread, I think that once all the work has been finished the FrankenWashie will look great, I managed to successfully complete my HotRod Strat project and have posted a pic of what it looks like, feel free to check it out mate, the ting I'm most pleasantly surprised about the HotRod Strat project is how stable the tuning is, I gave the HotRod's Floyd Rose trem a good workout last night while playing the guitar through my Digitech RP50, and the tuning stayed rock-solid, I must have fluked it or something, I dunno, but I'm happy with it, just need to change out the current pickups for some better ones, cause I think one of them is a bit microphonic, and the tone gets real harsh and brittle when I play the guitar through my Marshall's boosted overdrive channel, there also seems to be excessive bass in the tone too, so it gets a bit farty at very high gain settings, I'm looking at going with a couple of Kent Armstrong Dual Blades, and a Tonerider Rocksong.

When you come to set up the Floyd Rose on your guitar, if you need any help, let me know mate.

Cheers Doc, I'll check out the Hotrod build shortly.

I did do a rough set up on it, and I know that it fits under the trem cover, but yes I probably will ask 20 questions once I get there. I have yet to drill the anchor holes as I want to get it to pre-finish on the body, attach the neck and then drill the anchors in. They are marked for position, but I just don't have the accuracy in my drill rig to do it here at home. It may have to be on the CNC Mill at work!

Aside from that, its been a busy dusty old weekend in the FrankenLab. Just spent a couple of hours turning Big wood (singular) into little wood (plural) and piles of disjointed wood, and then reassembling the little wood (plural) into slightly larger wood (Singular). The disjointed piles of wood stay disjointed but were swept into a more tidy but disjointed pile.

    The result was this:

Got the first two undercoats on the SV-1 and wet sanded the EXA-1 as well as filling the jack point on the FrankenWashie and playing with resin. I thinks its beer O'clock!
