Dude, first build FB repost from the company! Kudos! I'd echo Pabs and Deddy, lust a little more curve in from the upper neck join into the top horn. Get a round rasp or microplane if the tool budget can stand it and work a little at a time and you should be sweet.

Run some test rasps on a scrap piece of pine, or make a cardboard template of the whole body to your current shape, then use baking paper to trace out some alternate horn shapes before you go to work on your kit if you're nervous about the shape, then you can sort of overlay your alternate shapes to get a feel for how it will look and how much work you have with material removal.

As you aren't likely to be removing much material i'd be steering away from the jigsaw and opting for rasps or files or even low grit paper on round blocks or mandrels.

Cheers FrankenWashie, good call on the rasp - I've got a few but rarely go for them. I've obviously got a decent offcut from the body already to get a feel for which rasp to use! I'm also going to do some body contouring so might as well get raspy.

Cranking out a few of the easy aspects during lunchtime - getting started on the logo design. Yep, very Fender influenced but not too much of a copycat (I hope).

Little bit of work on it today - refined the shape a bit more. I think the extra bit taken out of the lower top horn helps a lot. Still thinking about whether to shave a bit more off the top of the top horn. The thing is, I'm not trying to "recreate" a Jazzmaster or the like, it's more just making something pleasing to the eye!

Then I took the rasp to do a bit of body contouring. Baby steps at this stage but it certainly feels nice when I hold it in a playing position.

That shape really works. I think if you took any more of the top you would break the lines/symmetry/flow/proportion/...vibe.

I thought the shape was too good not to make a post on. Loving it Chuck - keep it up mate. I'll keep my eye on this one.
