So I've done a couple of quilted maples now - got the drill on black stain, sandback, stain procedure. I've got a spalted maple Hoff on backorder - assuming it gets here eventually - do you "enhance" the spalt grains with black the same way?
My plan is a blue spalt burst to black edge. I think I can pull it off. Little worried about the glue aspect of spalted, though.
Thanks!
Andy

I've only done one spaulted top before and that was the DM-1. What I noticed is that the lighter colour timber absorbed the stain more so the spalt "reversed" after staining. One nice thing about the random nature of spaulting is that you can get a tiny brush and some matt black paint and turn any glue marks into "spaulting"
