    The Man Challenge

Who wants to join me on the next Man Challenge due to start on 10 October 2016?

Six months ago my weight nudged 90kg which for someone my height of 172cm put me in the obese category. Since completing the most recent Man Challenge a couple of weeks ago I am now down to 76kg but still overweight according to BMI and have included the following link for anyone to calculate where they currently sit and also where they should be.

    http://heartfoundation.org.au/your-h...bmi-calculator

Again, who wants to join me on the next challenge? What have you got to lose other than a few excess kilos?

Well done shedding the kegs! You must be feeling a heap better all round.

Not really something I have ever had to worry about, being built like a race horse but I am sure there are other forum members who can rise to the challenge.

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

    Thanks DB.

Too much sitting behind a desk didn't help and the 10 minutes exercise per day in the program did most of the work plus better eating habits.

So going by that, I'm actually within my suggested healthy range then?, I've had my blood-pressure checked and apparently it's fine.

@ Dingobass My dad used to nickname me "Hollow-Legs" when I was younger...hahahaha.

    178cm, 81kg, BMI 25.

A little too much, but I'm getting there. I reckon my ideal would be 75 - 76 kg, I just need more exercise. (Maybe you could take the 'more' out of that last sentence..)

I've been here all along, just not posting as my builds are all still on hold.

My wife got me onto the 5/2 diet. You eat what you want 5 days a week, and on 2 days (either consecutive or split) you limit your calorific intake to 600 calories for men, 500 calories for wimmin. We do our fast day on a Monday and a Thursday. There's a documentary called 'Eat Fast and Live Longer' that explains how it works - and it DOES!

Here's a poor quality YouTube video of the documentary, but try to find the original film on your favourite torrent site.

She did it last year on her own, as I poo-pooed the idea and didn't want anything to do with it.

At at the beginning of the year, my bad cholesterol was bad, blood pressure through the roof, visceral fat around my vital organs was getting out of control, work stress levels too high and the anti-depressants weren't working. My psychologist advised me I needed to eat more healthily, exercise and get into a regular sleep pattern. (Two out of three... It's 12:30am, and here I am)

So my wife asked me to go on the 5/2 diet to support her, and help me regain my physical (and mental) health, and I reluctantly agreed.

Long story short, 5 months later, my blood pressure is perfect, LDL cholesterol is JUST above the ideal, but is still coming down, and as previously mentioned, my BMI is now within reach.

In October, it will be six months, so we're going to drop back to one day a week. It was easier than I'd anticipated. The hardest part is that time late at night when you get a craving for snax in front of the plug-in-drug.

In 5 months, I've only broken the fast on 3 Thursdays. Once when I was REALLY crook and bedridden, once when my depression took a turn for the worst and I sought comfort in a LOT of junk food. (It worked...) and the third time was when I went down to Wollongong for my mum's 85th birthday. (I'm not fasting at a birthday bash)

Im the healthiest I've been for years and even have the black dog under control. I could've made it even MORE effective had I not taken the 'eat what you want for 5 days' part so literally. If I'd eaten a little more thoughtfully on the eating days, I'd be BMI 17 and probably off the cholesterol and BP pills.

I had to make a new hole in my belt this week. I went from a 32 inch waist to a 36 when I gave up cigs, down to 34 now and can just squeeze in my old 32's. The secret, as Dr Rudie says... eat less" LOL
