    Battery powered cigar box amp

Have had some cigar boxes sitting around for a while so with an amp circuit I got from ebay for about a dollar, a speaker and a few other bits and pieces I threw this together for a bit of fun.

I've been trying to find some cigar boxes forever! Where did you find yours? I want to build a 3 string slide box

That one came from gumtree was too small for a CBG when it turned up so I did this instead. I've never found one big enough and I don't smoke so that option is out and I sometimes think about pinching one of those twinings tea boxes from motels. I did do a 3 stringer out of scrap timber for the time being until I find something I can use.

It's fun for annoying the wife

It's a pain trying to find boxes here too. I've been through all websites for interior deco etc and no luck. Seems I have to make one myself too.

What's the size of that box? I was planning something like 20cm x 25cm x 7cm outer measurements. Should I go bigger?

That is very close to the dimensions that i used. Have you been to http://www.cigarboxnation.com/ there is great information and projects on there and you can download a PDF from this page that is very handy http://www.cigarboxguitar.com/knowle...-joshua-gayou/

Hey Fuzzbeard that amp and your CBG is way cool, you have given me an idea to build a mini amp.
I got quite a stash of cigar boxes that I collected from about 3 years ago, building CBG's is what got me into building PBG kits.
Nicko try the local tobacco shops but I think these days the boxes come plain and could even be cardboard. The dimensions you said are plenty big enough. You could easily build a box out of 5mm thick plywood and get some cigar stickers on ebay maybe
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

Now that I think of it - to get exactly what I want with the box/body it's better to put it together myself.

One cool case for the amp could be some army surplus radio/equipment case or something similar. Old and road worn...
