Hi all,
They tell me I should start a build diary, as this is my first build, so here we go.
Always wanted a 5 string bass so I purchased an IB-5 kit. A few minor issues when the guitar first arrived, but PBG was quick to sort out the problems. The guitar was then put into the "I'll get to that" basket, and I started planning out what I wanted as a finished piece.
Ok so I finally dragged out the IB-5 kit form under the bed. Only been sitting there about 6 months while I ordered a few upgraded parts and stuck them under the bed also for safe keeping. I now have a box full of most, (still waiting on a part or 2 to arrive), of the parts I want for this build, so I guess it is time to make a start on it.
So started with some pre fitment of the various parts (neck, pick-ups, tuners, etc), and took some measurements. So far most parts fit well, or the pockets / holes are a bit too small, so all that is rectifiable. I may need to make a cover plate to hide gaps around the pick-ups but we'll see how they look a bit further down the track. As I'm also making this an active bass, the new electronics pockets have been worked out and router work has been started. Should get them finished off on the next trip to the workshop.
Hmmm... What to do next once the router is put away?
I'm sure there is probably something that I have forgotten to buy, but I'll work that out through out the build. I don't think there is anything critical for the build itself I've missed, but maybe some finishing off bits and pieces.
No questions so far but will let you know if any arise as the build continues.
