Started out this weekend on my first Pitbull rebuild. I did a basic setup and then designed the headstock shape being carefull to make sure that the tuners fitted into the shape. The body contours and edge radius was done.

+1 on the headstock.
What timber is that? Almost looks like pine.
Making the world a better place; one guitar at a time...
It should be a basswood body and maple neck.
Full marks for checking the headstock design. It needs to be functional as well as look good.
I decided to reshape the upper and lower horns this weekend. The upper was made slightly thinner and the bottom was shortened by about 20mm and reshaped. It allowed a better access to the upper frets. I also made the body contours more pronounced. In the future if the bass lives up to expectations I would fit an active EMG pickup or similar. I made a couple of quick templates and routed out a rear cavity so that there wouldn't be any problems fitting a battery and extra electronics.![]()
Nice routing work and good body mods.
