I thought you alredy had the holes for the bushing, you got away with that one then.

I have the same setup on a vintage acoustic, i can actually pull the whole bridge out when the string are off, i could plug and retap but hey it loses its character.

Muzza, to me it looks like you have the tuneomatic part of a floating bridge for an archtop.

If that link works, the specs for the TOM are about the same, you just don't have the wooden base.
It's something I came across a while ago when researching bridges for the ES-2V kit.

@ Grant I was thinking that, looks like it needs a harder timber base to screw the bridge posts into so the posts keeps a good bite with the timber

From what I've gleaned from the internet, it's a 'Kalamazoo' style, or 'ABR-1'. They're what Gibson used before they went to the 'Nashville' style with the threaded inserts.

so Muzza once the posts are screwed into the body might be worth gluing them as I presume to raise or lower the bridge you turn the knurled wheels that sit under the bridge ? You don't want the posts spinning or rotating so the wheel does raise or lower the bridge.
Where will the earth wire attach to ? better give that some thought

ah ok Muzza, string through ferrules will look cool.

So you will need to somehow get an earth wire to the control cavity, you may have to drill a hole from your post holes then

The bridges date back even before these old girls of mine, same sort of idea, although improved these days

I don't like the idea of drilling the thin thread into the basswood (I presume).
I didn't at first either, but there are lots out there.

Yep. I intend to get the neck angle as low as possible, so the bridge is really low. Luckily my Maton has a really low action and I can take measurements from it when I come to set the neck.

This one's going to have through the body ferrules.

Mounting the posts directly into the face is more common than I originally thought.

Interesting 'over the top' use of the tail stop here...

Luckily, being the guitar builder, I'll be able to manipulate the neck angle to get the bridge somewhere like this one.

Should be able to get the strings to the ferrules without fouling the back of the bridge.

And if it's good enough for my hero Joe Walsh, it's good enough for me. (See what he says about his bridge at 1:55)

3rd pic looks like the bridge is around the wrong way.

I have seen a few LP juniors with the stop tail back to front and strung like that, apparently it makes the angle of the string over the saddle greater, decreasing the chances of breaking.
