I'm tending more towards holes to the front, slots to the back, as the slots sort of mirror the strings over the pups. We need a good overhead shot with the decals on and everything sitting in place to see how the portholes will really look. Very cool build.

Set back today. When the water slide decals dried the clear bits stood out like the proverbial dogs bollocks. Mainly due to the wood grain not being filled and leaving voids under them, also because the material it's self is quite thick. So I pulled them off, *disturbingly easy to do after 18hrs* , I glossed the top of the guitar and have trimmed the 2nd set of decals ( boy scout here, always ready for disaster) as close to the white as possible and will try again tomorrow. I'll then put satin clear over the gloss to flatten it off.

So......all Friday was spent fitting the neck and doing the wiring. I thought I had it down, but it was humming like...a hummy thing.
So this morning took it all off again and rewired it from the start again. Yea, one earth (the one from the bridge of course) had come off.
Did some very intense chrome removal and soldered it back, seems to have held this time. I doubt I'll get rid of the hum because its all hollow inside and I didn't shield it. So while I had the switch plate off I cut the tops and bottoms off the vol and tone knobs just leaving the centre section where the plastic grippy bit is then glued these into the bottom section of some 12gauge shotgun shells . Then I filed down the switch knob till it fitted inside a 40Smith & Wesson case and used another as a truss rod cover.
I purposely left the finish patchy and with dings in it..kinda relic-y.
    So there it is finished!
It sounds quite interesting. The P90 packs some punch, the humbucker gets an almost phase -ish sound on its own but together they sound really full.

All in all I had fun building this costs were
    Neck $50
    Pick ups...left over from kits
    Tuners...left over from other kits
Switch plate.... left over from other kit
Bridge..... left over from another kit
    Ply.....left over from renovations
    Paint ......left over from renovations
    Decals $8
    Timber for frame $6
chrome bits and bobs.....had for years...left over from restorations.

So this is a $64 guitar!

looks super cool Dedman, I missed the finished pics.
Agree with Fretty would love a video/sound demo

great axe for $64. Sure if you bought all the parts you already had it would have cost under $150
