Thanks for the link Pablo. Looks cool. I was particularly amazed by the scalpel wielding! Reminds me of someone else on the forum :?

Pablo @ Very cool design. How are you going to print it? [/quote]
Because the image will be under 1mm of clear lexan sheet with the edges under a 3.5mm MDF escutcheon, it's just printed onto matt photo paper. The whole thing is simply a sandwich (see pic)
Whoo Hoo - that vinyl wrap stuff is something else! I'd be fascinated to see if anyone has a go at doing it 8O
Great video clip BTW.

This is going to be an amazing Guitar/ Art/ Engineering/ Headtrip. You're a brilliant luthier.
More kind words - thank you guys . . . I will be getting a swollen head(stock) oops, already got a swollen headstock on this job :|
Speaking of which, the "sandwich" head is now sprayed white. Next will be some stencilled artwork around the "backglass" then a clear satin urethane finish over the whole deal. Tests show this will result in a slighlty off white/yellowed effect which is just what I'm after.
Pics should explain better than words I hope.
Chrome humbucker cover just turned up - yay.
Also fabricated back cover for the head from ally plate(pic)
Just waiting on a set of 3L/3R big knobbed chrome machines.
All hardware will be chrome to be in keeping with the 70's era of pinball furniture.

Rolling along . . . .
Pic 1:
I Managed to get the desired "speckle" effect on the white paint which is typical of pinballs of the 70's era. The body will get the same treatment.
Stencilled/sprayed on lightning bolt/plectrum design around front of headstock.
Masked off frets and applied first coat of urethane clear over the whole schmeer.
Printed up pinny style position markers on white waterslide film - the plan is to sand back their sections, slide 'em on & urethane over, then clear urethane the whole bloody neck again.
Pic 2:
A more speccy shot of speccle :P
Pic 3:
Playfield cut and in place. I've used ply with a bit of grain 'cos some areas (e.g. the shooter lane)
will remain visible, as per the real older style playfields.
Still have loads to do . . .

Update:
Struck a snag![]()
The black position dots on the f/b showed through the white waterslide decals - fnyuck!
Rather than drill out the dots & backfill, I have reprinted onto thin white photo paper. I'm building this up with clear urethane and carefully sanding back 'til the board is smooth. If this fails, I 'spose it will beback to plan A.
Did a weigh up :|
Yes, it will be a heavy rocker . . . put all the PW gear on the kitchen scale and it'll be about 1.5 pounds or 0.7Kg heavier than my ESP MH50.
Decided sigle p/u will be chrome HB as per SG's (I am encouraged in this by the JR's that have been built here)
Coupla pics:
1. Neck decals on
2. Aluminium playfield apron awaiting artwork
