sorry i haven't got back sooner been a bit busy this week only just came to see what the guys are doing as i'm looking for a new kit or 2 to do. Rustoleum can be anything they don't put to much info on there cans and are only new to Aussie so you got to go online to see the difference with the series paint your using, as what Sonic said is on the money acrylic thinner can mess up a paint job pretty quick if its not compatible.

So long as the primer is well and truly dry it should be OK, but I probably wouldn't recommend it.
Its always a bit of a gamble mixing paint types - I do know that Rustoluem and automotive acrylic are generally not compatible. I believe Rustoleum is a poly base, so it doesn't play nice with the solvents in the acrylic
As Phrozin said, you should use the same paint type/system at all stages to minimise the chance of a reaction.
no one does Strats like Phrozen. keep it up!

@ joe i went to bunnings and checked out the Rustoleum and the 2k duramax there not the best products to paint a guitar, the 2k duramax clear the tin is only very small if you want to use a 2k clear try this its more what your looking for its 400g can should be enough to give you a couple of decent coats but ill warn you if you have not got a good technique with spaying you will run it

That's a nice blue, Phroz. I'm not generally a great fan of metalic-ish paints on guitars, but I have made exceptions for a couple roughly that colour.
Its not really a metallic Simon its candy blue clear over base just like candy apple red but in a blue, its done in silver then a blue tinted clear the more coats you do the darker it gets then clear it when your happy with the tint but its hard ot spray and get the color even, i went got a few colors bit of a test for my next guitar i got candy blue, candy yellow and candy apple red.
@waz nah id haft to repaint it then i'm a Holden man 😜
My new kit came yesterday and yep its another Strat lol but Floyd Rose STF-1 ST its got a really nice body so wanting to go a tint on this one body is to good to hide under paint so not sure what ill do on it yet as been wanting one of them for a wile so its a keeper also wanting to grab a tele next week as well
