    Community Kit Build (#2)

Following on from Nicko's thread, here's the next variant of the community kit… let's be creative and call it #2. Thank you Adam and the team for giving me the opportunity to build it.

    - Basswood body
    - Maple fretboard
    - 24 frets
    - Reverse headstock
    - Side dots only
    - Humbucker/Single Coil pickup configuration
    - Volume & 3-way toggle switch
    - Black hardware

    It looks kinda nice…

I love the unsullied 24 fret maple goodness.

The grain on the back of the neck is nice, but does have one little gnarly knot spot. It'll probably almost disappear by the time it's sanded.

I've got some finish plans in mind, but I'll have to do some tests first to see if it'll work the way I want it to. So, I'll let you know once I've got it worked out.

I'm planning on swapping out the tuners for a locking set and I've got a nice upgraded trem to go in too. The one volume with a 3-way toggle setup may be too much for me to accept, so chances are I'll be making some changes to pots, switches and wiring (big surprise). It's safe to say there's likely to be some modding involved.

I've got a nice set of three Entwistle pups tucked away for a future build, but for the good of the 'community kit' I'm going to use two of them here: HVX bridge and a middle XS62N for the neck (as it's RWRP).

The only fly in the ointment (at the moment) is that the stock neck pickup has flush sides which fits nicely into the narrow rout. But, the Entwistle has the typical flanged base of most singles which means it won't fit… yet.

I *think* I'll be able to add a slight under-cut to the back side of the rout which should allow the Entwistle manoeuvred in without the cut being really visible if at all. And yep, pups will be direct mount with no rings or pickguard.

    It on, Nick!
