Hi Guys,
has anyone got the instructions for butterscotch dingotone? The instructions that came with the kit are for stain/intensifier/final however this has a mixing white instead of intensifier.
Cheers.

Sorry mate, just saw this post.
I did a Dingotone butterscotch tele a while back. I'll post a photo.
Basically there is no intensifier coat, you just get the white base canister, butterscotch concentrate canister and final coat canister.
Get a plastic lid or (yoghut pot) or something to mix with. pour a little of the white base then add a little of the butterscotch concentrate till you get the right butterscotch colour you want. Then apply to the guitar with a small piece of cotton cloth.
I wait a week for each coat to cure. then repeat the process. The first coat will always look washed out then each coat you apply it will darken up a bit and form a uniform stain. If you apply too much you might get runs on later coats (the first coats get soaked up pretty much) which look a bit funny so try not to do that, or mop off excess so you dont get runs.
I think I went with about 4 coats before moving to the final coats.
Good luck mate![]()

Wow! That is a beauty. Very similar to the classic look I am going for with my TLA-1 build, except for the fretboard wood.
Question for Andy: did you use/recommend a grain filler before the first coat?
PS: is that a bakelite pickguard?
Cheers,
-Marcelo
Thanks mcamelo.
The body is grain filled with Neutral Timbermate and sanded again with 240 grit before any staining.
The pickguard is a standard pitbull guitars plastic black 1 ply
