    Floyd Rose issues

Anybody set up a Floyd Rose on a 7 string? Got mine assembled okay but causing some major headaches getting the tensions balanced. I'm wondering if the unit is based on a 6 string and with the additional tension of the extra string it presents added problems? I've centred the middle spring on the spring block by drilling an additional locating hole for the spring which seems to have evened things up, but I still can't get it to stay in tune.
    Appreciate some help/advice.
    Cheers,
    Evan

Have you got the bridge adjusted so that it floats parallel to the front surface of the guitar's body?, also, how many springs do you have installed?, if you have three springs installed you might need to add a fourth one, are the knife-edges of the bridge where it pivots against the post worn?

Hi DrNomis_44 - thanks for the input. Yes, I've got the float angle parallel to the surface of the guitar body. It's a new unit so wear shouldn't be an issue, but just to be sure it doesn't hang up at all I've put a small amount of MDS grease at the pivot point to help the bridge bounce back. There's only three springs (which was what came with the kit), but the adjustment is within about 5mm of being all the way in. There's enough tension on the springs for the bridge to be parallel, but maybe an additional spring will spread the tension more evenly. I've sourced some additional springs on the internet, so when they arrive I'll try adding a fourth one and hopefully that cures it.

Contrary to what some owners of Floyd Rose Trems may lead you to believe, the Floyd Rose system is not 100% stable in terms of staying in tune, about 80% tends to be the norm, with some exceptional ones being up to 90%.
