Hey guys!
I really only get to tinker with this kit on the weekend and it is my first attempt at assembling a guitar, so my progress will be slow...
So I am trying to built the RD model. The plan is to have a fully black body, with a decal of my band image attached to the body before the final poly finish.
upon opening the box, my first impression is that the body is nice. No noticeable chips or dings or bad machine marks. I noticed a chip on the fretboard and a slight imperfection on the corner of the headstock. I will treat the chip on the fretboard as an extra challenge, and I will have to look up how to fix that.
So I did the mock built and found that the neck does not fit into the socket snugly. I will have to look into how to rectify this.
The holes drilled into the body of the guitar for attaching the neck are not square.
I spent time sanding the body back using the different grades of sandpaper.
I ended up painting three coats of Squirts flat black paint and prime and am currently letting this sit for a week.
I don't have any good picture of it yet, but I took this as the first coat was drying.
Any feedback or advice is appreciated.
Chris.
