LP-1S neck and pocket connection

Hi All

my wife got me an LP-1S for Christmas first kit guitar.

I had one question about the neck and body pocket connection on it even though the neck is all the way in and firm there looks to be a gap between the end of neck just under the fret board and the body is self due to differing angles in the two. ( see photos) the fret board sits a few mm higher than the body when held in this position. Is this normal to see these sort of gaps on this model or should it be sanded until all surfaces are in contact ? thanks in advance.

I had a very similar gap with mine, and to be honest, I didn't do much about it. Once the stain colours were on, I can't even notice it.
The neck is supposed to be at a slight angle compared to the body, normally about 3-5 degrees. This is called the break angle, and allows the strings to run level over the fretboard once the bridge is installed since it sits higher than the body.
