    Howdy

    Gooday All,

My name is Pete, I live in Brisbane, north side, and just contemplating building myself a new guitar. I've mainly played bass in bands over the years, and have three basses and one six-stringer.

I'm no stranger to working on guitars, having put new pickups in my own and heaps of my mate's guitars too. I've repaired God knows how many guitars of my mates, and I built up a freebie Squire Strat that was a basket case into a really nice instrument for my son.

But I've never built one from scratch, so to speak. One of my basses is a one-off hand-made beast but all I did was pick the wood and buy the parts. My mate actually built it for me, and it is an awesome instrument. But I digress.

So googling for guitar kits I came upon Pitbull guitars and this forum. My only problem now is trying to choose which one to build first :-)

    Nice to meet you all,

    Cheers,

    Pete

welcome Pete, it's not really a case of picking ONE, it's a case of picking which one to do first because once you finish , you'll be wanting to do another :P

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

welcome to the forum Pete, any idea which guitar kit you are leaning towards ? Sounds like you have enough experience to tackle a harder kit to build. As the others have said building axes is very addictive so expect to want to build another after your first, then another..............

Welcome Pete, another Brissie bass player here, although out of necessity I now mainly play guitar for my church.

As Dedman says, it's usually not a case of which one to build, but which one to build first.

    Cheers

Hey Guys, thanks for the kind words (Andy, you're not missing anything :-) )

Dedman, you're probably right, I doubt I'll be able to stop at just one. For my first one I'm thinking of a GR-1SF, always wanted a Gretsch, my fave would be the 6118 Double Annie as they call it, the green one. I have some questions I will post in one of the other forums. Also been getting into Ghost lately, love the sound of those twin RD Artists, and see there is a kit of those as well, albeit without the active electronics. Also a fan of Motorhead, always wanted a Ric 4000 but never got around to acquiring one... perhaps number 3 build. Getting ahead of myself here... decisions decisions.

    Cheers!
